Job Title/Position: Technician, Senior HVAC Department/School: Facilities & Support Services

Primary Purpose:
Operate, maintain, repair and install heating, ventilation, air-conditioning equipment, and all related equipment and services. Operate, maintain, install
and repair HVAC Direct Digital Controls systems. Assisting and training of HVAC Technicians to a higher level.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification):
High school diploma or equivalent. The ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions and a minimum of 10 years HVAC or related
experience. Current State of Texas HVAC/R Class A Contractors License. Must have EPA Universal Technician Certification. A valid Texas driver’s license
and able to qualify as a driver under the district’s insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Perform preventative maintenance procedures for all HVAC equipment including system operational checks and cleaning of all coils.
2. Complete PM logs, maintain refrigerant tracking log, Safety Data Sheets log and collect new SDS, as needed, to keep HVAC SDS logs current.
3. Perform daily survey of HVAC Direct Digital Controls system for potential equipment problems.
4. Ensure clean and organized service truck and report discrepancies to auto fleet manager.
5. Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of heating and air conditioning systems. Repair or replace heating and air conditioning
systems and components to include replacement of items such as compressors, reversing valves, fan motors and electrical components.
6. Procure parts and equipment necessary to complete jobs.
7. Perform advanced trouble shooting procedures including calibration of controls, air balancing and modifications to the HVAC system.
8. Communicate with other technicians and assist, as needed.
9. Update work orders with material usage, repairs, labor and hand in all purchase requisitions and other related paperwork.
10. Maintain inventory of district-owned tools and equipment.
11. Identify and report needed repairs on district buildings and equipment. Advise supervisor of potential problems.
12. Participate in organizational meetings including project planning, budgeting for equipment repairs and future upgrades/renovations, customer
service and equipment integration.
13. Participate in the interview process for potential new HVAC employees.
14. Train technicians to an advanced level.
15. Maintain good rapport with customers and advise when repairs are complete.
16. Respond to emergency calls, as needed.
17. Follow Educator Code of Conduct and all policies, procedures, laws and State/Federal regulations.
18. Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Extensive knowledge of established safety procedures and techniques
Extensive knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
Extensive knowledge of HVAC controls systems
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines, procedures, and codes
Extensive knowledge of HVAC DDC controls system and computer skills
Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
Skill in calculating mathematical calculations
Skill in the use of HVAC tools and equipment including, but not limited to, recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, meters, gauges,
oxygen/acetylene torches and ladders
Skill in working in a collaborative, team-based environment
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Demands):
Repetitive hand motions; exposure daily to possible adverse weather elements for extended periods of time; must be able to push, pull, lift, and/or
carry at least 40 lbs independently and over 40 lbs with assistance.
