The Field Service Technician will be able to calibrate pipettes, as well as scales/balances, centrifuges, or various temperature devices. Training will be provided, and technicians are expected to learn the skills and processes necessary to perform non-calibration work within the lab environment. This position requires a mix of local and overnight travel to customer facilities to calibrate their critical test equipment coupled with in-lab work. Pipetting experience is preferred but not required. All training and equipment will be provided.
Responsibilities:
- Will work with management and other technicians within the lab to learn pipette calibration fundamentals, working to produce calibrations using the systems and SOPs we have in place
- Learn fundamental calibration techniques and processes
- Develop skills necessary to perform calibrations independently
- Develop skills necessary to produce calibrations at a specified rate
- Maintain calibration standards
- Must be able to perform these functions within a laboratory setting and/or supervised customer on-site
- Will be required to perform on-site calibration, certification, and maintenance services on specific lab equipment at client/customer locations including interfacing with customers in person, via email or phone
- Field service equipment includes pipettes, bottle top dispensers, scales, balances, centrifuges, and temperature calibrations
- Other duties as assigned
Travel Requirements
- 50-75% - mixture of local day trips, overnights, and out of state
Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
To be considered for a pipette technician, the following knowledge, skills, and abilities are preferred:
- Ability to learn new skills regarding calibration and calibration processes
- Previous laboratory experience is preferred but not required
- Develop an understanding of and work within the requirements of ISO 17025
- Must understand basic algebra concepts and be able to utilize defined formulas
- Familiarity with basic tools
- Proficiency with office computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Basic organizational and time management skills
- 3+ years driving experience with a valid driver's license and acceptable driver history
Education and Experience
This position does not require any formal education however a two-year college degree or equivalent military experience is preferred.
