Position Overview:
As the Lead Installer at ProToCall, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems. You will supervise a team of technicians, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC and refrigeration installation, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to providing top-notch service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Supervision: Lead and supervise a team of HVAC and refrigeration installers, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and high-quality installations.
- Project Oversight: Oversee all aspects of commercial HVAC and refrigeration installation projects, from planning and preparation to execution and completion.
- System Installation: Install commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems, including but not limited to chillers, boilers, heat pumps, rooftop units, split systems, and refrigeration units, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Site Assessment: Conduct thorough site assessments to determine installation requirements, including equipment sizing, ductwork layout, and electrical and piping configurations.
- Equipment Setup: Install and configure HVAC and refrigeration equipment, components, and controls, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, and sensors.
- Piping and Ductwork: Fabricate and install ductwork, piping, and electrical wiring according to blueprints, schematics, and industry standards.
- System Testing: Perform system start-ups, testing, and commissioning to ensure proper operation, efficiency, and compliance with safety standards.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with HVAC and refrigeration systems during installation and provide effective solutions to resolve problems.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate with clients to understand their needs, explain installation procedures, and provide updates on project progress.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations while performing installations, maintaining a safe work environment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installations, including equipment specifications, system configurations, and service reports.
- Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all tools, equipment, and vehicles are maintained in good working condition and report any issues promptly.
- Quality Control: Conduct final inspections to ensure all work meets ProToCall's quality standards and client expectations.
- Coordination with Management: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction.
- Team Development: Mentor and train junior technicians, providing opportunities for skill development and career growth within the company.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial HVAC and refrigeration installation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Certification: HVAC certification and EPA Section 608 certification required; additional certifications (e.g., NATE, HVAC Excellence) are a plus.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems, components, controls, and installation practices.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Leadership Skills: Proven leadership abilities with experience supervising, training, and mentoring teams.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients, team members, and management.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 75 lbs), work in confined spaces, and perform tasks that require physical exertion.
- Driver's License: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Tools and Equipment: Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
- Safety Awareness: Commitment to following safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in commercial HVAC and refrigeration installations for various industries such as hospitality, healthcare, retail, and food service.
- Familiarity with energy-efficient HVAC systems, controls, and automation.
- Experience with building management systems (BMS) and smart controls.
