Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an HVAC Technician to join its organization. This position is located in Linthicum, Maryland.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Perform a variety of skilled maintenance tasks to install, operate, maintain, adjust, diagnose and repair facility heating, cooling, refrigeration, ventilation, boilers, and air handling systems and associated fans, air cleaners, air compressors, chillers, pumps, motors, etc.
WORKING PROCEDURE AND/OR RESPONSIBILITY ASSIGNED:
PERFORM WORK OF EQUAL OR LOWER SKILL LEVEL AS REQUIRED.
Perform a variety of maintenance tasks requiring considerable skill and initiative. These tasks are typified by, but not limited to, the following areas:
Operation and maintain equipment connected with facility heating, ventilation, and cooling systems, to include boilers, air cleaners, air handling units, air compressors, fans, chillers, filters, pneumatic and electronics controls, etc.
Diagnose malfunctions of HVAC equipment by interpreting drawings, sketches, or oral and written instructions and manufacturer’s specifications/operation manuals and repair as necessary. Adjust, disassemble and/or repair this equipment safely utilizing such tools as ammeters, voltmeters, recorders, refrigeration gauges, tube benders, gas detectors, velometers, manometers, PH analyzer, psychrometer, etc.
Regulate and maintain air handling systems for various clean rooms and office and shop areas of the plant. Obtain traverse or other readings as appropriate to make necessary electronic and mechanical adjustments to ensure proper balance and operation of all heating air conditioning systems. Advise supervisor and facility engineers of system malfunctions and work with engineers in making design changes if necessary.
Obtain, delivery and move material, tools and equipment from one location to another, utilizing appropriate material handling equipment such as company vehicles, for trucks, hand cards, etc. as required. Perform a variety of routine maintenance functions such as cleaning equipment and facilities, painting, grounds work, lubricating, moving and relocating equipment and furnishings, changing/installing lamps and filters, receiving fuel oil deliveries, sampling outfalls, performing chemical treatment of water systems, visually inspecting equipment and faculties, working on ladders, scaffolding, rigging and the like.
Utilize computerized data management systems as necessary to maintain records on equipment preventive maintenance and repairs. Report any problems or unsafe conditions to supervision. Perform other miscellaneous duties which may fall within the scope of this position.
This is an SEA Union represented position.
This is a 3rd shift position.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
High School graduate or equivalent. Completion of an approved four (4) year electrical or pipefitter apprenticeship program plus completion of an HVAC Technical School or six (6) years equivalent industrial HVAC experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties assigned under this position.
