Refrigeration Technician
Position Description
Carey Sales & Services, Inc.
Refrigeration Technicians, deliver, repair, install and troubleshoot refrigeration systems. They will service a variety of equipment including but not limited to: ice machines, beverage equipment and refrigerated storage units. Refrigeration Technicians also perform preventative maintenance in order to avoid future problems or breakdowns, and the Technician must be able to work on mechanical and electrical components of these systems.

- Refrigeration Technician is responsible for delivering and installing climate-control systems, and must maintain knowledge about all components of these systems, read printed blueprints and schematics in the field, understand compliance standards, know local building codes and apply welding and soldering techniques as required.
- Must be able to physically and visually diagnose problems and make repairs to existing equipment, apply troubleshooting methods, replace parts and run tests to ensure the systems are working properly following repairs. They also must be able to upgrade systems to satisfy new regulations or meet new standards.
- Required to operate various machines including but not limited to, box trucks & other motor vehicles, fork lifts, commercial kitchen equipment, and metal fabrication equipment.
- requires a strong mechanical background and ability to read and understand manufacturers specs and directions.
- Must have the ability to maintain a calm and professional manner in high stress situations.
- May be called upon to work on various projects or improvements the company makes to the business’s premises, other projects as needed by the company.
- Must have strong organizational skills, and must maintain good housekeeping of work area and company vehicle.
- Must understand and observes all safety rules and regulations. Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around work area.

Work Environment
This position operates in an environment that may contain dust, noise, oils, greases, grinding debris, compressed air, metal shavings, propane and solvents.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read printed material, write with paper and pen, use electronic devices, and perform basic math to accurately complete all documentation. This job also requires the use of machines and hand tools necessary for tool and die fabrication, including lathe, milling machining, band saw, jig saw, drill press, filer, grinders, arc welder, brazing unit and other standard tools. This position requires heavy lifting for installation and maintenance of large Commercial Kitchen/Food Service Equipment. Essential to the position is the ability to stand for long periods of time, lie on the ground face up and face down, get up unassisted from a prostrate position on the ground, kneel, crawl, and bend.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. , however technicians are expected to participate in an evenly distributed on call rotation including but limited at least 1 holiday per year, and periodic rotations. Overtime is expected to occur as necessary for the business.

No over-night travel is expected, but is possible for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- Minimum One years’ experience in this field working with mechanical systems.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Vocational classes and certifications related to this job.
- Journeymen’s license preferred.
- 1+ years experience working with commercial food service equipment.
- Basic computer literacy education, including windows, Microsoft Office and spreadsheet applications

Required Automotive Authorization, Record, and Insurance.
This position requires the technician to drive Carey Sales and Services company vehicles as well as their own personal vehicles as needed. Thus, Carey Sales requires a violation-free driving record, and current Driver’s License, and Full insurance coverage to meet the stated requirements per the Employee handbook. All license and personal auto insurance fees are the responsibility of the individual, and the business does not reimburse for these costs.
