A Day in the Life of an HVAC Service Technician at Broadview Heating, Air Conditioning & Electrical
The day-to-day tasks of an HVAC Service Technician involve providing maintenance, trouble shooting, diagnosing and repairing various residential and commercial HVAC equipment. These include compressors, hot water tanks, furnaces, boilers, duct work, mini splits and generators. In addition to service calls at a customer’s home or business our techs provide solutions on service and home comfort products.
Technicians efficiently carry out the tasks associated with various problems in a timely manner. Our clients look to your knowledge of systems to ensure that they are being taken care of correctly the first time. Because of this, it is important that you have excellent communication skills to assist in all aspects of interaction with our clients.
Key Responsibilities
· Troubleshoot HVAC equipment, home comfort issues, energy efficiency and related issues
· Present findings and options to customers, providing expert advice
· Complete approved repairs, improvements, or installations
· Maintain clean equipment, work area and truck at all times
· Ensure complete customer satisfaction upon completion of work and answer any questions or concerns
· Complete and submit all required documentation accurately on your tablet (no paperwork)
· Collect payments and submit within the next business day
· Maintain a clean interior and exterior of company truck including inventory of parts and supplies
· Track vehicle maintenance and alert management when maintenance is necessary
· Provide information, quotes and pricing on service agreements, accessories, and new equipment
· Communicate with dispatch regarding service call status
· Identify and suggest solutions to customers on a cleaner, more comfortable, and energy-efficient home
· Proactively provide excellent customer service
· Maintain a clean and professional appearance
· Clean driving record to be always maintained
· No on-call during the week
· Rotating on-call weekend (Saturday & Sunday), every 10 weeks from 8 am – 9 pm
Qualifications
· EPA Certified (NATE Preferred)
· Relevant Residential Install and Retro Fit experience
· Excellent customer service skills
· Follow controls/wiring schematic
· Ability to braze, solder and/or weld
· Problem Solver
· Motivated
· Professional attitude
· Good communicator
· Team player
· Adaptable
· Ability to meet the physical demands of the job such as carrying and lifting
· Valid Ohio Driver's License
· Clean driving and criminal record as required by state laws for home service companies protected by insurance carriers
· Education High-school or Equivalent
· Knowledge of Generators is a huge plus
· Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
