Overview:
The Assistant Director of Engineering supports the Director in maintaining the entire resort complex, including the hotel tower, front of the house and back of the house areas, meeting space, all aquatic facilities, retail space, and exterior grounds. This individual must be a certified, tenured building manager with experience operating and overseeing the physical building, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment, hazard systems, life safety equipment, electrical, kitchen and laundry, and aquatic equipment. The Assistant Director of Engineering will help oversee the PM program. Daily responsibilities include delegating work assignments, following up on completed work, selecting, training, and developing employees. This individual must work collaboratively with all departments in the hotel to ensure a positive customer experience for resort guests. In the absence of the Director of Engineering, this individual will assume responsibility for the operation of the entire department. Qualifications:
- High School diploma; college and/or Building & Mechanical certifications are preferred
- At least 5 years of senior level Engineering management experience in large, upscale, full-service hotel or resort, preferably with water park operational experience.
- Read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
- Strong technical skills in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, etc. Familiar with chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatments, pneumatics, control systems, water systems, boilers, refrigeration, compressors, etc.
- Universal CFC certification preferred. Additional certification in one or more of the following:
Certified Pool Operator, Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC and Refrigeration systems, Process Controls, Mechanical Power Transmissions. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions.
- Budget management experience, cost control experience.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and develop the Engineering team.
