The Texas Tribune, the state’s go-to nonpartisan source for Texas politics and public policy news, is hiring a Marketing Coordinator to work with the Marketing and Communications team on building and executing marketing campaigns for the 2025 Texas Tribune Festival.

As the Tribune's signature event of the year, the Texas Tribune Festival is designed to bring Texans closer to politics, policy, and the day’s news from Texas and beyond. The ideal Marketing Coordinator candidate is creative and organized with an eye for detail and demonstrates strong emotional intelligence, including the ability to effectively manage interpersonal relationships, navigate challenging situations with empathy, and maintain composure under pressure.

The person in this role will be responsible for supporting all aspects of TribFest marketing, including content creation, social media management, email promotions, and project management. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications.

Requirements

Start date: March 3, 2025
End date: Oct. 3, 2025
30 hours per week, scheduled Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Occasional nights and weekends, especially during TribFest.
Must be available to attend the Texas Tribune Festival in person in September 2025, dates TBD
Compensation is $25 per hour

Responsibilities

Write and edit marketing copy.
Build email campaigns in Mailchimp.
Build, schedule and monitor social media posts in Sprout.
Provide project management support for the Marketing and Communications team.
Collaborate with members of the Tribune’s other departments, including the Events, Design and Audience teams.
Contribute to strategic planning for marketing campaigns.
Track and report data and marketing success, including ticket sales, email analytics, ad performance, and more.
Build partnership proposals.
Build promotional kits for speakers, sponsors and community partners.
Exhibit professionalism through consistent reliability, integrity, and a respectful approach to interactions with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

At least two years of experience in digital marketing communications
Bachelor’s or associate's degree in journalism, communications, marketing or a related field
Experience in digital and social media channels in a professional setting
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Willingness and ability to quickly learn new platforms and technologies

Bonus/Preferred Qualifications

Events marketing experience
A passion for politics and policy news and events
Experience with the following applications: Airtable, Canva, Mailchimp, Sprout, Figma, Basecamp and Google Workspace

Location

This position is based in Austin, Texas, at our downtown headquarters, just blocks from the Capitol, with the ability to work a flexible, hybrid remote schedule.
