Summary of Opportunity

Environmental Spray Systems is a San Diego-based company that has a full-time position available for a service technician. Applicants must have at least 3-5 years of experience as a mechanic, technician, or similar position. A service technician with our company will spend the first 3-6 months learning about the industrial equipment we sell and accompanying more experienced employees to customer locations to install, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery.

Service Technician – Main Responsibilities

Ensure the safe and proper operation of the industrial fluid handling equipment we sell by assembling, installing, and troubleshooting equipment.
Train customers on the safe and proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance and warranty service on equipment.
Help with in-house projects such as research and development equipment trials, repairs, and trainings.
Draft customer proposals for parts and labor. Upon request, help colleagues draft proposals.
Promote great customer service by clearly communicating with customers, quickly responding to emails and calls, drafting summaries and completing other documents, coordinating customer activities with colleagues, and following up with customers to ensure their needs are met and exceeded.
Escalate technical issues as needed to colleagues and suppliers for further analysis and action. Regularly follow up on incomplete tasks in order to meet deadlines.
Proactively read manuals, attend trainings, and partner with colleagues and suppliers to build your technical knowledge.
While most work will occur Mondays through Fridays during normal business hours, some projects and customers may require occasional weekend and night work. This is usually communicated a few weeks in advance.
This position may regularly travel to customer locations, either in the Western U.S. or Northern Mexico.
Assist colleagues with any other projects and tasks needed to keep our facilities clean and organized and to support our customers.
Follow all company policies, procedures, and directions.

Minimum Qualifications

3-5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, or similar trades. Equivalent military experience will be considered.
Proficient in using mechanic’s hand tools.
Experience in diagnosing and repairing mechanical equipment.
Ability to write clearly.
Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds.
Ability to work in warehouses which can have cold and hot temperatures.
Willingness and ability to travel within the United States and to Northern Mexico.
Proficient in using Microsoft Excel/Word and mobile phone applications.
Proficient in sending clear and concise emails.
Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
Valid California Driver’s License.

Desirable Skills

Bilingual – Spanish.
Experience using industrial equipment.
Experience using paint or adhesives.
Manufacturing experience.
Experience selling products or services.
Experience with CAD.

Salary and Benefits

Possible salary range: $68,000-$85,000/year, depending on experience.
Subsidies for use of personal vehicle to travel to customer locations, gas, air and other travel expenses, and cell phone.
